AMAZING from start to finish, wonderful trip, camp & staff! This was an absolutely stunning trip, a once in a lifetime experience for me and my wife that was made special by this fantastic camp and the staff who looked after us. Can you give a 6* review?!We booked with a safari package to Selous with Daigle Tours (this company also owns the campsite) for 2 days/1 night starting and finishing at our hotel in Zanzibar and the whole experience was exceptional. I will try to do it justice with the summary below!STAFF: I have to start with the staff who were AMAZING and really made the whole trip what it was. Shout out to Germano who we were in contact with to book the trip – he was great with the planning everything and making it really easy and stress free – he also was a friendly face at the campsite and helped to look after us.
Thomas was great, he was our waiter for all our meals in camp and looked after us well – the chef was also fantastic as well as all the other camp staff.
Rama was our guide for the trip and our safari game drives and this man was a legend! Extremely friendly, funny and knowledgeable – it was a pleasure to be in his company!ORGANISATION: Germano made this so easy, sending an itinerary and detailed information in advance. All of our transfers, flights and activities were all on time and run very well. We paid around a 40% deposit in advance and the rest in cash on arrival which was all fine.
ACCOMMODATION: I can best describe it as luxury glamping (see pics) with a real bush wilderness feel. Each tent has it’s own hot water shower and toilet with plenty of bottled drinking water. Bed was comfortable and the tent is lined with a mosquito net which was great (neither of us were bitten).
FOOD: wow, it was SO GOOD. The chef did a fantastic job and Thomas was an attentive host. As part of our package, we had a picnic style packed breakfast & lunch on day 1, with a delicious 3 course meal in the evening for dinner. Day 2 we were given a 3 course breakfast and then a 3-course lunch after our activities before our flight home. The food was actually ridiculous, so so good! And a lot of the ingredients were sourced from the local villages. Compliments to the chef!
TRAVEL: Picked up from our Zanzibar hotel at 4am on day 1 & taken to airport for a short 30 min flight to the Mtemere airstrip which is right on the edge of the Selous/Nyerere National park and 10 min drive from the camp. On day 2, Rama made sure we got on our return flight ok at 4pm and when we landed in Zanzibar we were transferred back to our hotel.
ACTIVITIES: Our flight landed at around 6:30am at the airstrip and we were greeted by a smiling Rama in his 4×4 jeep ready and waiting for us to start our safari game drive immediately (no time to waste!). It was a truly amazing day, we saw so many animals including elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes and more – it’s an experience we’ll never forget. In total, we were out for around 11.5 hours for the day, including 2 stops for a picnic style breakfast & lunch (included) which Rama served up in a safe place. We sat eating our lunch watching over a watering hole whilst crocodiles were eating their lunch too – a deceased hippo!
After a good night sleep, we went for a walking tour in the morning of day 2 with a local man called Didi which was really cool, and then we went on a boat trip down the Rufiji River and saw lots of crocs and hippos as well as other wildlife and interesting information from our guides from the local village.
Lastly, we visited the local village on foot where Didi showed us around to give us an experience of life in a Tanzanian village which was really enjoyable.Overall, we found our trip to be excellent value for money with 2 action packed days with some great hospitality and facilities at the camp. Highly recommended to anyone thinking of going on a safari in Tanzania!
Thank you Rama, Germano, Thomas, Didi and all the staff the Nyerere Tented Camp!

We stayed at the camp for two nights while visiting Selous (Nyerere) Park but I wish we stayed longer! The place is amazing and the staff is so kind and professional (special thanks to Germano and Thomas). The camp is located in the forest and you can really feel the safari spirit (which is not true for other camps we visited). There is an authentic-looking common eating area with a bar and also a camp fire area. The camp is guarded by a Maasai warrior at night which adds even more charm to the place.
The tents are cosy, convenient and safe. I’m not a fan of camping and tents so I had a lot of reservations but really loved this camp, which I can describe as luxurious glamping. Each tent has its own toilet, sink and shower with running water. It’s a new camp and they will be adding more traditional low-cost tent site to it, I heard from the manager, for those of you who like that type of experience. We were on a full board, the food was plenty and very delicious, including three course meals at dinner and cooked-food packed lunches for the safari trips.
The camp is close to Rufuji River where you can go on a boat trip and very close to Selous (Nyerere) Park which is amazing for a safari. If you need to chose only one park, I suggest you go for Selous (Nyerere), just personal preference, and stay and the camp. I would recommend 5 days with a boat trip and ask for an additional Maasai village experience, this is amazing to visit.
Our safari was organised by the company who owns the camp site (Daigle Tours). Everything was tailored to our needs and preferences. The transport was comfortable, the accommodation was amazing, the food was delicious and more than enough, there was plenty of drining water. The organisation was perfect, these guys knew what we would need before we did! :)
The safari itself was magical! We saw so many animals and observed their daily activities. Our guide Otto was fantastic, he literally knew where the animals live and where to find them and could answer all our questions with such competence! We managed to see a lioness, a hyena family, and lots of giraffes, elephants, zebras, gnus, buffalos, hippos, baboons, different types of antelopes, crocodiles, and (my personal favourite) the warthog (also known as Pumba in The Lion King). There is so much for the bird fans as well. We also had a fantastic boat trip on river Rufiji.

What an exceptional experience/stay which truly exceeded all of our expectations! We picked the most affordable tented camp within our budget and we were expecting to stay in a small two man tent style accommodation. We were truly shocked to find the tent was huge with its own private shower, toilet and a double bed!
We were made to feel like royalty due to the staff and how welcome they made us feel. Always extremely polite and friendly and talkative!
The organisation of the trip was absolutely fantastic and the food was impeccable.
We would highly recommend booking this camp and we are definitely going to recommend to all of our friends and family,
Thank you so much Germano and all your staff for making everything run so smoothly.

We had an amazing stay at Nyerere Tented Camp. Tents are super cozy and clean and even have a shower and toilet. We fell asleep to and woke up to the sounds of the forest. Incredible!! Staff is lovely and food is very very good. I would recommend a stay here to anyone who wants a unique experience.

We visited the camp for 3 days at the end of April 2023. We participated in a full day safari in the Nyerere National Park and a 3 hours safari in Rufiji river. Although out car was stuck in the mud upon our arrival, and it took the camp personnel more than two hours to free us, we had a great experience. The camp is very well organized and the personnel is very friendly and helpful. Sleeping in the tents is a fantastic experience as you can hear all jungle noises from outside. Germano, the manager, is a very responsible young man and he helped us experience the safari in the best possible way. We will surely recommend the Nyerere Tented camp to our friends for their future visits in Tanzania.

Nyerere Tented Camp is not to be told, Go see for yourself, I spent 3 days but I feel I have wronged myself I needed to add days to be more satisfied.they have a good restaurant, delicious food, surely their chefs specialize in cuisine, I don’t want to say too much, go see and then come and say here, they need 5 stars in all camps in Nyerere National Park, they deserve it. Congratulations, I love your smart Room and even staff yours is very careful.

The experience that Nyerere tented camp offered was magical! After a whole day of game drive with a really experienced and passionate ranger, we stayed in the most beautiful, luxurious and relaxed tent whilst you can hear the wildlife around you.
This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and I would highly recommend these guys!
